Diamonds And Pearls is the thirteenth studio album by Prince, and was the first with his new backing band, The New Power Generation. Featuring six massive international singles, including the hits “Gett Off”,
“Cream”, and the iconic title track, the album was a worldwide smash reaching multi-platinum status in the USA and the UK, where it remains his best-selling album.
Diamonds And Pearls was unveiled to the world on October 1, 1991, and it instantly had a huge commercial and cultural impact, becoming the biggest selling non-soundtrack album of Prince’s career. Over the past three decades, the reasons for its enormous success have been discussed extensively. Not least of these was Prince’s decision to finally engage with major television exposure and an extensive tour of Europe, Japan and his first trip to Australia. - The Super Deluxe Edition contains 75 audio tracks across 7 CDs, of which 47 are previously unreleased, including 33 studio tracks from Prince's legendary Vault.
- The Super Deluxe Edition opens with Prince & The New Power Generation's multi-platinum album, Diamonds And Pearls, dazzlingly remastered for the very first time by Prince's original mastering engineer Bernie Grundman.
- Also included are 15 of the incredible remixes and B-sides from the era, including the never commercially released "Gett Off (Damn Near 10 Min.)" mix, all of which have also been remastered for the very first time.
- At the heart of the set sit 33x previously unreleased studio recordings from Prince's legendary Vault, making up three hours of audio.
- The set also includes an entire previously unreleased audio recording of Prince & The New Power Generation's preview performance of the Diamonds And Pearls tour at Prince's Minneapolis club, Glam Slam, on January 11th, 1992.
- The Blu-ray features the previously unreleased Live At Glam Slam 1992 show (presented in 2K video with Dolby ATMOS / Dolby True HD 5.1 / Stereo audio), as well as the Special Olympics Concert recorded and broadcast on July 20th, 1991 (in 1080p HD video with Dolby ATMOS / Dolby True HD 5.1 / Stereo audio) and Special Olympics Soundcheck recorded on July 19th, 1991 (in 2K video with Stereo audio).
- The Blu-ray content is completed by the inclusion of a restored version of the Diamonds And Pearls Video Collection (in 1080p video with Stereo audio), originally released in 1992. The Video Collection features the original promo videos for "Gett Off", "Cream", "Diamonds And Pearls", "Insatiable", "Strollin'", "Money Don't Matter 2 Night", and "Call The Law", as well as live videos of "Thunder", "Jughead", and "Live 4 Love".
- Housed in a telescoping 12" box, and accompanied by a 12" 120 page hardback book featuring:

But as he said on numerous times, he was looking forward to a better world...the hidden world where all of us will reside one day. Each time I listen to his compositions and view his concert performances I am enthused and re-charged to this prophecy of his. Long may you continue in this waking world for the people will always love you.

Diamond & Pearls is one of my top favorites of Prince's vast catalog, and just knowing the treasures inside will be well worth the wait. Even the mailing packaging is cool.

James EvansNovember 16, 2023I know this won't get a great reaction, but everyone has an opinion and all opinions are valid, whether you agree or not. This is a beautiful set, very nice book, and the way the CDs and Blu-ray are packaged is great also. The album has always been a 8/10 for me, and it still is to me. The vault tracks I like 10 out of the 33, the NPG times were not my favorite for Prince. But I respect it for what it is. Rosie Gaines has a BEAUTIFUL voice nonetheless. I guess I just want more like LoveSexy, Batman, Around the World in a Day, Parade, etc. I prefer Dirty Mind and Controversy and my favorite is 1999, that special edition was EXCELLENT! So this box set hits me as a 8/10. Well worth the buy. And the concert, Special Olympics set, plus the old vhs video collection was a very nice touch. Can't wait for the next one!!!

The book with the photos and stories of the making of the music and behind the scenes insights is a must read.

I love extra song takes it gives you the ability to see what Prince either began with or possibly would have chosen in other words you get to hear his process of working through a song until it's done in his mind. Great stuff

The vault tracks r worth the price of admission by themselves, and the accompanying book is really well done. I appreciate the voices of scholars, Darling Nisi and of course De Angela Duff. Thanks for the cd sleeves, but I miss the hologram.

PercellNovember 9, 2023Like most of the reviews that I have read here - I love the Diamond and Pearls LP plus the "Vault" tracks. It is tough to watch his live performance because I do miss his performance. I kept saying to myself. "What if he was alive today, how would his performance be in 2023???"
