“Lovesexy was a mind trip, like a psychedelic movie. Either you went with it and had a mind-blowing experience, or you didn’t.” —Prince, Rolling Stone, 1990
Lovesexy was not the album that the music industry was expecting Prince to release in 1988. In what Jon Pareles of The New York Times described as “one of the most enjoyable and peculiar moves of the 1980s,” Prince announced that he would follow up the critically revered Sign o’ the Times with The Black Album, a raw collection of hard-rocking, funky dance music. But then, a mere week before its scheduled release, he scrapped his plans and demanded that Warner Bros. destroy all copies of the album. Only one of the songs from that album, “When 2 R in Love,” would be saved from the cutting room floor, and within seven weeks Prince had recorded an all-new collection of songs to join it on the album Lovesexy.
Lovesexy was a brighter, lighter, and more melodic release, inspired by the more spiritual direction that Prince’s music had started to take in the second half of the decade. “We need love and honesty, peace and harmony, positivity,” he sings in the album’s closing track, echoing the sentiment that courses throughout the album: after confronting society’s deepest troubles in his earlier political work, Lovesexy sought to unite and uplift. In Prince’s words, Lovesexy was his gospel album.

Princ has and will always be the G.O.A.T, ive been a fanatic from the beginning since i heard "Soft and Wet" from the debut album FOR YOU. My uncle had bought the tape and we were listening to it and he said it was not what he liked.....i was over there jamming in the passenger seat....he was going to throw it away. I had to have it, i was only 11 years old. He gave it to me. That was the beginning. I had the pleasure to see him live 4 times. Those memories i will cherish. He'll be FOREVER IN MY LIFE!

LoveSexy is a truly Iconic album. In a back catalogue filled with so many precious jewels LoveSexy for me is one of Prince's most bold and adventurous creations. One of my proudest achievements is that I can recite the CatRap off by heart ?? Whilst I love the cd reissue. I was very much hoping for a vinyl and a super deluxe boxset reissue, like the superb Sign O the Times & 1999 boxsets. LoveSexy deserves to be celebrated in all it's exquisitely outrageous brilliance. I will be forever grateful to my dear friend bunny, who got me a ticket to see Prince on his final tour. Such an incredible night I will treasure for the rest of my life. Positivity, have u had yr + sign today? ????

I tell this story to fellow Prince Fans.LOVESEXY is my favorite Prince album and Thank you Estate for respecting the music by keep it one track (first thing I checked) . LOVESEXY what can I say it was the light to his Dark, his rebirth. Back then when this came out I was 14 and this album was behind the counter of the record store because of the cover (lol) . I listened to this album non stop for I felt like day. The sounds , spirituality,God ,Love ,Sex ,Life, Heaven all wrapped up in 48 mins will never ever be duplicated. LOVESEXY is da 1 till my day is done” Hundalasiliah

Well I've always loved Prince since I first heard 'Eye Wanna B Your Lvr' a few years ago. I was officially, unofficially a fan when I heard D.M.S.R. and the rest is history. I've loved all of Prince's music for more than a number of years now. I love how he does all the songs himself. A lot of his albums stand out in my mind but today we're talking about Lovesexy. Great name for an album, wonderful, fantastic songs all the way through. I can't think of a single one I like more or less than the others. it's one of several albums I've lost over the years and I was so happy when I saw the email of the reissues and saw that Lovesexy was among them. I'm still waiting on the Black Album and maybe a few others but for now I'm happy and overjoyed in the repetition I'll be enjoying until the end of my days. Peace! And be wyld!!!

Great music from an incredible artist. My only complaint is when you transfer thus disc to an IPOD it comes through as one long track. There is no way to separate the different songs.

What can I say about this. Well as a Prince fan for like a couple years now he has truly became my second favorite male artist and this album as well as the history behind it is awesome. I truly live for this body of work which is favorite along with his album Controversy. Also I am glad it was back on cd format just like it was when it came out. Awesome…..awesome….awesome.
