More than any other release in his four-decade-long recording career, Prince's iconic double album Sign O' The Times captured the artist in a period of complete reinvention.
Primarily recorded between the end of 1985 and beginning of 1987, the era saw the dissolution of his band The Revolution, the end of his engagement to Susannah Melvoin, and the creation (and ultimate abandonment) of the albums Dream Factory, Camille, and Crystal Ball. By the end of that period of transformation, Prince emerged with one of his most urgent and wide-ranging releases to date — an epochal double album that would be hailed as a creative, critical, and commercial triumph.
The Super Deluxe Edition includes all the audio material that Prince officially released in 1987, as well as 45 previously unissued studio songs recorded between May 1979 and July 1987, and a complete live audio performance from the June 20, 1987 stop on the Sign O’ The Times Tour at Stadium Galgenwaard in Utrecht, The Netherlands.
Also included is a brand-new DVD containing the complete, previously unreleased New Year’s Eve benefit concert at Paisley Park on December 31, 1987, which was Prince’s final performance of the Sign O’ The Times Tour stage show and his only on-stage collaboration with jazz legend Miles Davis.
The Super Deluxe Edition set also features a 120-page hardcover book containing Prince’s previously unseen handwritten lyrics for many of the songs from the era, including the hits “U Got The Look,” “I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man,” and “Hot Thing,” iconic unseen images from the era taken by Prince’s primary photographer in the mid-1980s to early 90s, Jeff Katz, plus images of archive assets including original analog tape reels and studio tracking sheets.

Juan MunozjrMay 20, 2023The set is fabulous...the 1999 and SOTT were greatly produced....i really enjoy the 12 inch singles put on a single disc...still waiting on a 12inch singles collection with all the extended versions, with the b-sides tracks included, to come out...im not a fan of all the products being sold by the estate, but the music being brought was been inspiring. Thank You...Prince, we miss you.

David A. KotwickiApril 19, 2023This masterpiece deserved the deluxe treatment, and nothing was spared in bringing the beauty and evolution of these compositions back into focus. Words don't suffice to encapsulate the artistry of Prince, so, beyond saying that this is an essential listening experience, I won't try. Prince Forever.

EApril 17, 2023The detail and the sheer magnificence of this remaster is honestly shocking. The cardboard packaging even has the Sign O peace sign on box. The coffee table size book that houses the CD’s is just overwhelming with music, photos, commentary, brilliance. I wish that Purple Rain had received this treatment with 83 first ave show being included, and hopefully others like Dirty Mind, Controversy, and maybe even Parade get this treatment. The packaging of Sign O the Times is the way all remasters with expanded music and video need to be done. As a customer who had already spent money on the original, I have no complaints what so ever on spending more when it’s done in this fashion.

MiraJune 1, 2022Such an amazing compilation of music. The vault tracks are so special. Hearing P in the studio on Power Fantastic is :) and the beautiful instrumental tracks that Lisa and Wendy made along with their many creative contributions on others sounds amazing. What a free, creative and funky time! The pictures of the handwritten lyrics are a nice touch and the packaging presentation is beautiful. Side note - I think Cat Glover deserves more singing/music credit. She obviously brought an unmatched energy that P fed off during rehearsals and live performances.

This album solidified Prince as my number One fav artists of all time. The various themes covered from sex to the apocalypse are amazing. Thank you for releasing this exciting trophy piece to add to my already illustrious Prince collection!

Tyka FernaldFebruary 3, 2021This is probably the best Prince related thing i’ve bought this year. All the songs are amazing and the quality of the songs just sound so much better and clearer. I already heard some of the vault songs but there’s songs on the vault discs that you couldn’t find anywhere before this was released. I live in The Netherlands and to see Prince perform in Utrecht just makes me feel so special. I’ve probably watched the DVD 5 times already. This was a very good purchase and definitely a must have if you’re a Prince fan.

Plus some of his other music from that era is in the box. I haven’t finished 2 of the CD‘S but I know that this will be a top purchase of my year

I especially love the live tracks and newly released stuff that we haven’t heard before. I was mesmerized the first time I heard Prince in 1978, his music is the soundtrack to my life. I’m the same age as Prince so his music has been in my life for so long. There is and never will be anyone like him, he is a unique gift and his music is what we are blessed with. I don’t listen to anyone else, all my music is and always has been just Prince. Thank u Prince for your beautiful music! When I listen to his music I feel like he’s here; his music lifts my soul and makes me happy.

When i recieved the collection in the mail i first thought i had recieved the albums and not the cds however was i pleasantly surprised when i opened the collection found the cds and dvd and quickly put them in. Took me three days to completely finish the collection due to the amount of content. But what a great and joyous experience remembering the life of this music genius it was.
