More than any other release in his four-decade-long recording career, Prince's iconic double album Sign O' The Times captured the artist in a period of complete reinvention.
Primarily recorded between the end of 1985 and beginning of 1987, the era saw the dissolution of his band The Revolution, the end of his engagement to Susannah Melvoin, and the creation (and ultimate abandonment) of the albums Dream Factory, Camille, and Crystal Ball. By the end of that period of transformation, Prince emerged with one of his most urgent and wide-ranging releases to date — an epochal double album that would be hailed as a creative, critical, and commercial triumph.
The Super Deluxe Edition includes all the audio material that Prince officially released in 1987, as well as 45 previously unissued studio songs recorded between May 1979 and July 1987, and a complete live audio performance from the June 20, 1987 stop on the Sign O’ The Times Tour at Stadium Galgenwaard in Utrecht, The Netherlands.
Also included is a brand-new DVD containing the complete, previously unreleased New Year’s Eve benefit concert at Paisley Park on December 31, 1987, which was Prince’s final performance of the Sign O’ The Times Tour stage show and his only on-stage collaboration with jazz legend Miles Davis.
The Super Deluxe Edition set also features a 120-page hardcover book containing Prince’s previously unseen handwritten lyrics for many of the songs from the era, including the hits “U Got The Look,” “I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man,” and “Hot Thing,” iconic unseen images from the era taken by Prince’s primary photographer in the mid-1980s to early 90s, Jeff Katz, plus images of archive assets including original analog tape reels and studio tracking sheets.

JessMarch 4, 2024wow! I’ve been a Prince fan for over 40 years and this box set is like the Holy Grail for fans. I’ve been reading about the Dream Factory/Camille/Crystal Ball tracks that all eventually became SOTT for decades and now they are here and fully mastered! the book, interviews, track sheets, song notes, pictures etc are assembled with such care that I can safely say this is the best, most lovingly curated box set of any artist or band I have ever experienced. high praise for the team that put this together. Love4oneanother!

How I miss him and his marvelous nature as he heals and provides hope ... still after all this time. He is ageless and , dare I say it, still with us from the spirit world. The lyrics combined with the production and tight beats/musicianship, make this a must have in any Prince fan's collection. The main tracks speak for themselves and have been glorified for years by other people. I'm kind of a second level fan because I collect his unreleased material/demos/rehearsal sessions. It never ceases to amaze me of the high quality of some of his unreleased stuff which could have easily topped charts. This collection doesn't disappoint when it comes to Vault material so I would say it's MUST HAVE for real Prince fans. May The Purple Genius' music live on 4Ever! RIP bro! I miss U and love U!

Juan MunozjrMay 20, 2023The set is fabulous...the 1999 and SOTT were greatly produced....i really enjoy the 12 inch singles put on a single disc...still waiting on a 12inch singles collection with all the extended versions, with the b-sides tracks included, to come out...im not a fan of all the products being sold by the estate, but the music being brought was been inspiring. Thank You...Prince, we miss you.

Words don't suffice to encapsulate the artistry of Prince, so, beyond saying that this is an essential listening experience, I won't try. Prince Forever.

EApril 17, 2023The detail and the sheer magnificence of this remaster is honestly shocking. The cardboard packaging even has the Sign O peace sign on box. The coffee table size book that houses the CD’s is just overwhelming with music, photos, commentary, brilliance. I wish that Purple Rain had received this treatment with 83 first ave show being included, and hopefully others like Dirty Mind, Controversy, and maybe even Parade get this treatment. The packaging of Sign O the Times is the way all remasters with expanded music and video need to be done. As a customer who had already spent money on the original, I have no complaints what so ever on spending more when it’s done in this fashion.

MiraJune 1, 2022Such an amazing compilation of music. The vault tracks are so special. Hearing P in the studio on Power Fantastic is :) and the beautiful instrumental tracks that Lisa and Wendy made along with their many creative contributions on others sounds amazing. What a free, creative and funky time! The pictures of the handwritten lyrics are a nice touch and the packaging presentation is beautiful. Side note - I think Cat Glover deserves more singing/music credit. She obviously brought an unmatched energy that P fed off during rehearsals and live performances.

This album solidified Prince as my number One fav artists of all time. The various themes covered from sex to the apocalypse are amazing. Thank you for releasing this exciting trophy piece to add to my already illustrious Prince collection!
